Kim Bokamper

Broward Health Foundation Board Member

Many South Floridians recognize Bokamper as one of the “Killer B’s” -- a term used to describe the Defensive Line of the Miami Dolphins that helped take the Dolphins to the Super Bowl in the 1982 season. Bokamper is currently the sports anchor for CBS 4 and hosts “Dolphins Tonight,” a nightly radio show on WQAM. He also recently opened Bokamper’s Sports Bar and Grill in Plantation.

Although he’s very busy these days, he still makes time to give back to the community. One of his passions is the expansion and renovation of the Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. “Several years ago my wife and two daughters were involved in a car accident that resulted in my daughter being hospitalized,” recalled Bokamper. “She was in the hospital for only a few days, but it was a very difficult time for us. I can’t imagine what it’s like for parents of children with cancer or sickle cell anemia that spend weeks, sometimes months in the hospital. Whatever I can do to make their lives better, I'm willing to do.”

What I appreciate most about the Broward Health Foundation is that we’re working to raise money for all of the hospitals within the Broward Health system,” he said. “I’ve had friends who have been treated at the Heart Center of Excellence at Broward General Medical Center, I’ve used the orthopedic services of Broward Health, I know kids that have been treated at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital. We all feel so strongly about the excellent treatment that we received and this is my way to give back to a hospital system that does so much for our community.”
