Mary Jane Cunningham

Powerful Friend

Mary Jane Cunningham

Mary Jane Cunningham has been a close partner with the Broward Health Foundation for the past ten years. As a ten-year breast cancer survivor, she hosts her Annual T-Dance to benefit the Comprehensive Breast Center at Broward General Medical Center. This past year, the event drew close to 300 people, and included dancing, live entertainment, raffle drawings as well as live and silent auctions. Even with such exciting entertainment, none of the attendees forgot the important work they were doing. In addition to raising awareness for breast cancer, the event also raised over $30,000 to provide free mammograms to women throughout Broward County. To date, the Mary Jane Cunningham T-Dance has raised close to $80,000 for breast cancer services at Broward General Medical Center. Each year, the event grows larger and larger, keeping in line with Mary Jane's dedication.

“Mary Jane is a tireless advocate for breast cancer awareness and we are grateful that she contributes so much of her time, talent and resources to this annual event,” said Michael S. Long, president of the Broward Health Foundation.

In her own words: “The most important part of this event for me, is when women come up and tell me that they just had a mammogram or are going to get one. That is really what this is all about…saving lives through prevention and awareness.”
