Employees Raise More Than $200,000 to Benefit Broward Health

Broward Health employees shine once again. Together, they have raised more than $200,000 during the 2011 Give from the Heart Employee Giving Campaign. More than 1,700 employees participated in the fundraising effort to help make a difference right where they work.

“Broward Health employees have demonstrated amazing support of this program, and I extend a huge thank you to them for their generosity,” said Dennis Stefanacci, president of the Broward Health Foundation. “Employee participation in this program sends a strong message to potential donors that charitable gifts help strengthen our services and enable us to better meet the community’s healthcare needs.”

The 2011 Give from the Heart Campaign marks the second Broward Health Employee Giving Campaign. In just two years, $385,000 was raised from employees to benefit Broward Health facilities and initiatives. Funds have helped to refurbish the family waiting room at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, upgrade and enhance two hospice rooms at Coral Springs Medical Center, purchase a Patient-On-Demand Education System at Imperial Point Medical Center, refurbish the conference center at North Broward Medical Center, and much more.

This year, committees were formed at the various Broward Health regions to help promote the campaign and to plan special events. Fundraisers - including jewelry sales, basket raffles, jeans/sports jersey Fridays, pizza and doughnut sales, and even a “Spin-A-Thon” - were held to raise additional dollars for the campaign. Special recognition goes to all of the committees for working hard to plan these events and raise even more funds and awareness for this important effort.

Give from the Heart

Employees may contribute to the Broward Health Foundation’s Give from the Heart campaign in a number of ways. Indeed, when viewing a pledge card, you can decide to give through payroll deduction, a personal leave donation, or a one-time gift by cash, check, or credit card. By default, your gift will directly benefit the facility where you work. If you would like to direct your gift to a different facility, you will be able to designate it on the pledge form.

Here’s a glimpse at how donations can benefit the Broward Health system:

  • Refurbishments to the Conference Center at NBMC

  • Enhancements to patient care and beautification of the hospice unit for Gold Coast Hospice

  • Assistance for indigent patients needing high-cost medical supplies at Gold Coast Home Health

  • Purchase of a Patient-on-Demand Education System (TIGR) at IPMC

  • Refurbishments to the 2nd floor Pediatrics Family Waiting Room at CECH
